24th Called Meeting

October 11, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

The Moderator of the Presbytery of the East (POTE), TE Bruce Clydesdale, is calling a Called Meeting of the Presbytery on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. for the purposes set forth herein.  The meeting will be virtual (via Zoom) and is called pursuant to and in compliance with the Book of Government Chapter 19-5 B of the EPC’s Book of Order and Article IV, Section 6 of the POTE Bylaws. 

POTE Teaching Elders and Ruling Elders are encouraged to participate in this Called Meeting and to ensure that a quorum is reached (two TEs and four REs from at least three POTE congregations).  POTE churches are requested to elect Ruling Elder Commissioners to the meeting.  The names and email addresses of elected Ruling Elder Commissioners and Teaching Elders that intend to participate in the meeting are to be provided by return email to RE Lanah Hamrick at mahlbh@outlook.com not later than Noon on Monday, October 10, 2022.  TEs who will not attend are required to request excused absences.  Zoom invitations and link to the meeting will be sent only to TEs and REs responding to this notice.  Clerks of Session are requested to forward/pass this email and updates to their Session members and elected RE Commissioners.

PURPOSE OF MEETING

This meeting is called by the POTE Moderator, TE Bruce Clydesdale, at the request of Teaching Elders Ron Meyer (Retired) and TE Daniel Moore (Guinston EPC), and Ruling Elders Joe Slesinski (Goodwill EPC),  Bill Snyder (Faith EPC), Doug Smoot (Fourth EPC), and Tom Kiess (Fourth EPC), in compliance with the EPC’s Book of Government Chapter 19-5 B and POTE Bylaws Article IV, Section 6 B.  No business other than that listed herein will be conducted at the 24th Called Meeting.  

  1. Dismiss Circleville EPC, Circleville, New York, to independence per the request of September 24, 2022, from the Session of Circleville EPC, received by the POTE by email at 2:39 p.m. on September 24, 2022. The text of the request from Circleville EPC is set forth below:
